Washington United For Marriage Launches Online Pledge Campaign

Washington United for Marriage (WUM), the broad coalition defending the marriage equality law, has launched an aggressive, statewide online advertising campaign to remind voters that while everyone in Washington now has the freedom to marry the person they love, "some want to roll back the clock" and "take that freedom away." The ads and social media push call on supporters to sign the Pledge to Approve R74, fully anticipating November's ballot fight.

The online advertising campaign comes on the heels of a new, independent statewide poll that shows an overwhelming majority of voters support the by 54-33 percent.  The poll of 500 voters was conducted for AP from May 22-24.   The online ads will be seen across the state on news, information, entertainment and other high traffic websites.

“We are launching this campaign with the same solid assets we had in our successful legislative effort — and that’s scores of volunteers of all ages and backgrounds, from every corner of the state, who simply believe it’s critical to defend the freedom to marry the person you love,” said Zach Silk, campaign manager for WUM.  “We know that the overwhelming majority of Washingtonians agree and the best way be heard on this issue of fundamental fairness is to sign our pledge.”
